Biblical Worldview -VS- Modern Values and Ideals

This post is part of my Thankful November 2012 posts!

Nov 5 ~ Thankful the Lord put this rock solid liberal, atheist, feminist in a church that taught the difference between modern values and ideals -VS- BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW. Yes, there is a difference between our personal view, contrasted with God's Word and a solid biblical worldview.

This was incredibly difficult for me to understand as a new believer, and I had to read scripture, think it through
, look it up in the Hebrew and Greek originals, pray, think through even more, and then make a choice on several key issues: abortion and homosexuality, and the concept of submission. These were hard for me to accept God's view -vs- my view. While I may not participate in any of them, what do I believe?

Jeremiah wrote, Thus says the LORD, "Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.' Jeremiah 6:16.

Jeremiah also talks about our new heart, I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the Lord; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart. Jer 24:7. Jer 31 and Ezek 36:26 promises us a new heart in the new covenant: Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

I do not have the power within, but if I have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, I have the power within HIM, because we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. As an atheist/liberal/feminist, I had a heart of stone as a believer, that heart of stone is exchanged, for a heart of flesh, to walk in His ancient paths and walk in His way. With that in mind, do I believe the One who saves me, and the Holy Spirit who convicts, or my own thoughts/feelings/emotions/experiences on this particular issue and will I walk in truth or error?

What is true from the beginning of the world to the end? What is truth, puny me or God? Which fit with God's Word, in context?

I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. I have not departed from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me. Psalm 119:101-102

We either take the Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation as the pattern of our lives, intent to follow HIS precepts, laws, ordinances and ways, after salvation, then spend our lives working out our salvation in fear and trembling, or we throw His word in the trash, effectively saying that the Bible doesn't fit our smart, new world and "we know better." Nice. "I am a Christian and all, but I have reasons NOT to follow God's word and why it doesn't matter here, and this part of the Bible is good, this isn't...thank you very much Holy Spirit, I will take my OWN way." I have been there. That is self = which is sin.

This is a refining process in ALL of us, that is why we work it out with fear and trembling. After all, the CREATOR of the universe, the One who holds it all together, the One who saved us before the foundation of the earth wrote the Bible.

And if your opinion and ideas are more important than God's, why do you need Him? Where are you on worldview?

Are you listening to the Holy Spirit, or quenching Him?

Ask God for wisdom, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

Twelve years after my first worldview class, I am still learning and growing and the Lord is still chiseling and refining and we are doing another worldview/creation class this weekend/today. There is no "getting there" it is like everything else in the Christian life, ongoing - do I believe God or man?

How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Psalm 119:103-104

~ Praying for His grace and wisdom, as we search His perfect word, and live accordingly.
