Learning to Be the Prudent Woman with JOY
House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. Proverbs 19:14
Seasons in Life
Is this your season to be frugal? To live a life of simplicity? Have things changed for you financially and it is a time of leanness, and the only way to make it through is to adopt a more frugal attitude and lifestyle? Gas has crept up above $3 a gallon, then $4 headed toward $5, then bouncing around with no stability in sight, with spiraling food costs, has that changed life? Maybe you have a goal in mind that will be reached by changing spending patterns. Perhaps the Holy Spirit is gently whispering in your ear, too much excess, too much, too much. Whatever the reason to pursue a simpler lifestyle, this class is about infusing JOY into that choice, a Joy IN the Lord, who is your strength!
You have two choices in your attitude about a simpler life. You can choose to embrace it with joy and with excitement – a frugal life is a life lived without regret, without excess and with less worry. No longer do you feel pressured to buy stuff you don’t need, to impress people you don’t know, who won’t care anyway! You begin to leave the rat race behind. A frugal, simple life can mean a whole new freedom. Or, it can represent drudgery, anger and a feeling of non-stop deprivation clawing at your sanity. It can be a hard, harsh time, a time of despondency and fear. We can fret and fuss about the reasons, long for our old lives, where things were easier, and regret current decisions or realities. Beloved – the choice is OURS! Like Paul, we can choose “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil 3:13-14 NASB. We have choices in how we wrap our minds around the seasons of our lives. Will we make lemonade out of our new lemons, or will we leave them on the back porch to rot?
Victory is the place where our breaking point becomes our turning point. Find that turning point in a frugal, simple life, well lived. May the Lord grant you peace as you explore the wonderful wilds and fascinating freedom of a frugal, simple Christian life filled with joy!

Learning From Prosperity
If we would learn from our prosperity, we would not need so much adversity.
- Charles H. Spurgeon
Waste neither time nor money, but make the best use of both. Without industry and frugality, nothing will do, and with them everything.
-- Benjamin Franklin
